Baku hosts Azerbaijan-Estonia Business Forum

imageA business forum was held in Baku on October 29, bringing together businesspeople from Azerbaijan and Estonia within the framework of the Estonian Foreign Minister-led delegation’s travel to the country. Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economic Development Heydar Babayev inaugurated the forum, briefing the guests about Azerbaijan’s current economic and social development. He said the foreign capital accounted for 70% of the $42 billion investments made in Azerbaijan. The minister noted that Azerbaijan’s real GDP grew at 36% in 2006 and this trend is expected to be stable. Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet stated his country is ready to strengthen business relations between the two countries in all fields. Meanwhile, the meeting was attended by Merike Kompus, chairwoman of the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Yana Krimpe, chairwoman of Estonia-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce, Emil Majidov, President of Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation, Tofig Zulfugarov, Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Estonia and others.
