Kristiina Ojuland: “I see great cooperation prospects with Azerbaijan in the field of information and communication technologies”

“Azerbaijan, as a country of oil and gas, is of strategic importance for the European Union,” Vice-Speaker of Estonian Parliament Kristiina Ojuland told the press conference in Baku, APA reports.

The Vice-Speaker said that Estonia was interested in cooperating with Azerbaijan in the field of information technologies. She mentioned that Estonian Foreign Minister had visited Azerbaijan a year before and discussed bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

“I see great cooperation prospects with Azerbaijan in the field of information and communication technologies. During the meeting in the Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies, I discussed electronic school and implementation of joint electronic health project between Azerbaijan and Estonia”, she said.

The Vice-Speaker said the main aim of her visit to Azerbaijan was to attend the seminar on the theme “Domestic violence” in Azerbaijani Parliament.
“Active discussions were held in the seminar. Men can also face domestic violence. For example, violence against men in Estonia makes 9%,” she said.

Kristiina Ojuland said at the meeting in Economic Development Ministry that she had discussions on arranging Azerbaijan-Estonia business forum.

Ojuland will also have a meeting in the Foreign Ministry. Highly appreciating the interparliamentary relations between the two countries, Kristiina Ojuland said they were looking forward to the visit of speaker Ogtay Asadov to Estonia.
