Estonia relies its energy security hopes on Azerbaijan

Baku, Fineko/ The Estonian government backs Azerbaijan’s aspiration to integrate into European community.

Kristiina Ojuland, Estonian Parliament’s vice speaker who is visiting Baku at the moment, has claimed that Estonia supports actively Azerbaijan’s aspiration to enter in the European Union.

“European Neighborhood Policy (ENP) is a good instrument for realization of this wish and we in the future will use it actively,” she said.

The vice speaker stressed Azerbaijan’s significance in the area of energy security of Europe.

“Azerbaijan is important for us in the aspect of energy security and oil and gas supplies,” Ms. Ojuland said.

These tendencies are backed as well by the United States which thinks that Azeri gas resources will be sufficient for filling in pipelines Nabucco and Turkey-Greece-Italy.

“Estonia has always supported territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Our country is interested in peaceful settlement of frozen Nagorno Garabagh conflict,” Ms. Ojuland said.

Tomorrow the Estonian vice speaker will continue its official meetings in Milli Majlis and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
